Where to Grab a Drink in Busselton & Vasse

Busselton might be famous for its jetty, but there’s plenty more going on once you’ve wandered back off it. This is a thriving beachside town, with a growing food and drink scene and some very good spots to check out. These are a few to add to the list.

Cheeky Monkey Vasse Taphouse

If you’ve loved the brews at their Caves Road Brewpub, you need to check out the Cheeky Vasse Taphouse to see where the magic happens. It is a working brewery, so you can grab a beer and have a good squiz at the tanks and brewing gear while you’re at it. You’ll find the full Cheeky core range on tap, plus a new limited release every couple of weeks. And because this is where the beers are brewed, new releases get tapped here first. Perks of being at the source. Food is kept nice and simple, with favourites like pizzas, ribs and nachos. Dogs are welcome inside and out too, so there’s no need to leave the four-legged member of the family at home.

Tonic by the Bay

Some places have a beer garden. Tonic by the Bay feels more like a garden that just happens to have a bar in it. Tucked amongst plenty of lush greenery right by the water, it’s a super cruisy spot to head for a drink. There’s a funky soundtrack in the background, local beers on tap and plenty of wine to choose from. Food-wise, expect contemporary dishes where quality local produce gets a chance to shine.

The Fire Station

Busselton’s original 1936 fire station has been given a new lease on life as a bar, while still hanging onto plenty of its old character. Inside, you’ll find a funky mix of heritage details and modern touches, making it a bit more interesting than your average watering hole. There’s craft beer, wine and cocktails on the menu, along with classic pub-style food when hunger inevitably hits. Right in the centre of Busselton, it’s an easy one to duck into after exploring a bit of town.

The Goose

In terms of location, you really can’t do much better than this. The Goose sits right at the foot of the Busselton Jetty, so you’re about as close to the water as you can get without taking your drink for a swim. Cocktails give the classics a bit of a twist, while the drinks list has plenty of WA wines and beers from local breweries. And if you’re hungry, you’re covered there too, with breakfast, lunch and dinner all on the menu.

The Market Bar

The Market Bar is a handy one when the group is struggling to agree on what they want. There’s a bunch of eateries around the market serving up feeds from every corner of the globe, so someone can grab some sushi while someone else goes for a Sri Lankan curry. There’s live sport, live music on Saturdays and a brilliant selection of South West beers and wines, so everyone can find something to get behind. It’s also super family-friendly, with a huge kids’ playground giving the little ones somewhere to burn off some energy while the grown-ups enjoy a drink.
