From dogs on desks to social sustainability, here is what’s new at Cheeky Monkey.

At Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co, we’re not just passionate about beer, but also about making a positive impact on our community and the planet. It’s not often we get serious around here, but bear with us while we share something with you that’s been filling our pints lately. We are fiercely dedicated to integrating social sustainability practices in our business, the well-being of our team and working toward a better future for us all.

But first, let’s talk about something important – dogs on desks. Director of Operations, Brendan, is all for it and loves having our furry friends around to keep us company while we work. But Managing Director, Brent, thinks dogs on desks are too much. Sorry mate, it’s a dog’s world and we’re just living in it (Brent, the pooches stay).

Now, some of you might be wondering, “What does having dogs on desks have to do with social sustainability?” We’re glad you asked, we believe that a happy workplace is a productive workplace. And what sparks more joy than having fur babies to cuddle when the boss has given you the shits…joking (kinda)! It might not seem like a big deal, but sometimes, it’s the little things that make all the difference. And hey, it’s also a great way to use our pups for social media clout.

At our core, we believe in taking care of our people, our planet, and our future. That’s why we’re committed to supporting our employees’ mental and physical wellness. We offer an Employee Assistance Program and mental well-being workshops to ensure that everyone feels supported with a neutral / non-judgmental space to talk – nothing is off limits.  We know that when our employees are happy and healthy, they kill it at work, and on a personal level – We are super proud of this.

But we’re not stopping there. We’re also committed to being environmentally conscious and reducing our impact on the planet. We’re proud to say that in 2022 we generated 204,167.56 kW/h of solar energy across both our sites in the South West, that’s enough energy to power approx. 40 households in WA for the year. This is only the beginning, we’re always looking for ways to improve our sustainable practices. Even our spent grain makes its way back to a farm to feed livestock. Yep, we’ve always said it – beer is a life force.

We’re committed to a continuous improvement model. We’re always looking for ways to do better, whether it’s reducing our carbon footprint or giving back to our community. We believe that every action we take can make a positive impact on the environment around us.  Because to us, social sustainability means creating a world where everyone has access to the resources needed to live their best life. We want to support our team to reach peak mental and physical wellness, as well as doing what we can for the Planet. We’re not saying we have it totally dialled in yet, but we’re giving it a red-hot crack.
